How do PTZ cameras work?

A PTZ dome camera is a type of security camera that comes with three unique functions. These functions are pan, tilt, and zoom. The camera can be controlled by using video management software. This type of camera works in the following way:

1) Pan: Pan refers to the movement of the camera to the sides. The camera can be swiveled or moved in both left and right directions allowing the camera to capture videos from a range. It is even possible to rotate it by 360 degrees, allowing the camera to be used in the centre of a room and swiveled around.

2) Tilt: Tilt is movement in the upward and downward direction. Cameras are usually focused straight. However, when an operator who is using the video management software suspects some activity, he can control the camera and move it upward or even downward to get a clear view. Up to 180 degrees, tilt is possible in these cameras.

3) Zoom: This is a very powerful function available in the PTZ dome camera. The lens in the camera can be adjusted to make the camera zoom. This is known as optical zoom. The camera can be used to zoom in and out to capture images, without affecting the resolution of the image. The extent of zoom possible depends on the focal length of the lens. It is expressed as 10x or 20x. The cameras are available in different zoom extents depending on the requirement of the organization.

Those organizations that have higher security requirements can choose the PTZ camera. It is an advanced camera that allows greater control and a higher degree of surveillance. The camera can be operated from anywhere making it very convenient. It is ideally suited for large areas like parking areas or a large lab.
